This is a great way to enhance anyones outdoor Christmas display. You don't even need the straw either. Just set it on the lawn, or the front porch and you're in business.
Only disadvantage is that the lightbulb sockets in Mary and Joseph are too small to handle a CFL Bulb. So if you are anti incandescent bulb, this isn't for you, but if you don't mind putting in a regular 40 watt bulb, it's perfect. Oh and a 40 watt is very adequate for the brightness of the display even though the max is 60 watt.

We built a barn out of scrap lumber and filled it with straw.
We put these inside and it is just beautiful.

Just received the set on 12/08/09 after ordering on 12/03/09, very fast delivery for standard shipping. Item is as described although the paint on Joseph seems lighter almost pinkish; however after installing and putting in a 40 watt bulb the appearance of Joseph's robe is almost brownish, very cool.
I am completely happy with the set especially for the low price paid. Only drawback is that the bottom's of the Mary and Joseph pieces have unplugged holes about the width of the bottom itself. I'm used to the older blowmold pieces that you could fill with sand or pepples to weight them down. Not a problem though because a well placed 5-10 # stone in each should hold them nicely. A purchase well worth the price if you're thinking of buying one. I've seen exact same sets selling for as much as $119-$135 elsewhere. Merry CHRISTmas everyone!!!!!!

Best price that I could find, and a really nice set. The only down fall is it doesn't use CFL bulbs but its okay.

I'm happy with it. My suggestion would be have Jesus and manger as 2 separate pieces. Guess I'm old school. I wait to put Jesus in the manger on Dec. 25th. I still have my old set (25 or more years). Got this for my son.
