A grills BTU rating is calculated by the total amount of heat output per hour utilizing all burners. Grill size,

cooking surface and overall design all determine how much heat is produced and not just BTU output.

High BTUs: Generally high a higher BTU grill generates higher temperatures and is good for frequent grillers
Low BTUs: Easy to control temperature, great for infrequent grillers
