Good circulation means that all your water is properly mixing and filtering. In contrast, poor circulation is when none or only a portion of your water is being mixed and filtered.Circulation is generally not a problem when
you have a lot of swimmers in the pool. The people in the pool adequately circulate the water while playing and having fun. Most often, circulation rears its ugly head when there is not much swimming activity in the water and the water remains stagnant. In the beginning or end of a season, during
cooler temperatures, people experience problems with water quality but the water chemistry is
fine. If this proves to be true, it usually involves a
circulation problem. Many times pool
owners will only test the water at the top of the pool. Always check water at different levels in the pool. Circulation at the top might be fine,
however, circulation at the bottom may not.
Ways to improve circulation:
- Keep everyone
swimming! The more the water is
moving, the better the circulation.
- Install a Bottom Circulation System (BCS). A BCS can be installed when a new liner is installed or on a new pool installation. A BCS will allow you to properly circulate water, even when no one is swimming.
A BCS mixes chemicals better, saves money on chemicals,
and reduces vacuuming & hand skimming by 80%.
Every inground pool has a Bottom Circulation System. - Purchase an automatic pool cleaner. This device will vacuum your pool and in the process, take water from the bottom of the pool and circulate the water.
