Pool Leveling and Ground Preparation

Pool leveling is an important part of pool installation. Most installers include up to 3 inches of dirt for leveling standard with basic installation. The charge for extra leveling varies by installer, but generally is around $30 per inch. Depending on the time of the season, some installers will do on site inspections of your yard to help determine the amount of leveling needed for your pool installation. While this is not a free service, most installers deduct the cost of the inspection upon installation of the pool. Please verify pricing and terms with the installer before the inspection.
If you would like to estimate the amount of leveling needed in your own yard:

Start at the high side of where you plan on installing the pool and put a stake in the ground.
Tie a string around the base of that stake and extend the string the length of the diameter of the pool.
With a line level (available at most hardware stores) pull the line tight raising or lowering it until level.
At the point where the line is level, measure vertically up to that line.
That is the amount of leveling that will be needed to install your pool.
