Pool Safety

Even though swimming pools are meant for summertime fun, uncontrollable things can happen.  The following are some tips on how to keep your pool safe for everyone to enjoy.

Safety Fencing
Most villages require safety fencing if you do not have a fenced in yard. This fencing attaches to the upright of pool, and can be anywhere from 30 inches to 36 inches high. This prohibits anyone from entering into your pool when you are not there. American Sale sells a universal resin fencing that can be cut to fit any size pool.  For certain models, we also offer aluminum fencing. Check with your village on exact codes for your area.

Safety Ladder
A safety ladder closes off the opening to your pool.  Most customers have fencing around their pool with one section open where their ladder sits, or fencing that attaches to a deck. When your pool is not in use, lock up the safety ladder by either pulling up the outside steps and latching them shut, or by removing the steps.  If your ladder does not have a lock, use a piece of chain and a pad lock to lock up your ladder.

Ladder Enclosure
If you do not have a deck, a ladder enclosure is the next safest bet.  A ladder enclosure surrounds your ladder, and has a safety latch that you can lock. This enclosure blocks off any openings to the pool.

Pool Alarms
Pool alarms are excellent if you have small children or pets. There are several different types of alarms. You have your choice between alarms that float in the water, or ones that attach to the wall of the pool that have monitors you can bring into your home. These alarms are weight and motion sensitive, and will sound off if anything over the approximate weight of 15 pounds enters your pool water.

Remember: You are responsible for any guests. Take precautions on keeping you and your guests safe from harm.
